Located at 1000 kms of the country's capital,
Santiago. It can be accessed by air on a 1.30 flight or by buses in a 12 hour
journey through the Pan-American highway that begins in Alaska. When arriving
to the region of the lakes we find a very green area, a great lake called
Llanquihue with 877 km2 of surface, a great amphitheater formed by the mountain
range of the Andes and its volcanoes, Yates, Calbuco, Tronador, Osorno and
Puntiagudo . Located in the center of the region, Puerto Varas is very
cosmopolitan because it was born and grows by the mixture of three cultures,
HUILLICHE - ESPAÑOLA - GERMANA besides several foreigners who passed as
tourists and fell in love with the place.
Today Puerto Varas has become one of the main
highlights of Chile as it is considered a gateway to the Chilean Patagonia. Its
hotel is of high range with hostels, cabins, bed & breakfast and hotels of
3-4-5 stars. Its gastronomy is very varied and of high quality, cafes that
offer German pastries like kuchen and struddel, beers of different types. This
region is characterized by the production of meats like Angus and Hereford as
well as fish and seafood.
To the north of the region you can access the national
park Puyehue with its thermal baths and international route that connects with
Villa la angostura and Bariloche - Argentina, to the east the national park
Vicente Perez Rosales and the imposing Osorno volcano with its ski center in Where
you can enjoy the snow all year round, the world-famous jumps of the Petrohue
river (beautiful geological formation of basalt or volcanic rock that mixes
with the water of emerald color) Through this route also there is access
towards Argentina by the CruceAndino .
To the west you can visit the Coast Range with small
towns or fishermen's shelters that are dedicated to the extraction of seafood
and seaweed.
The south of the region is magical, an hour by the
Pan-American highway is accessed the archipelago of the island of Chiloe, the
second largest in South America after Tierra del Fuego. In this island its
attractions are mixed with architecture with wooden churches that are World
Heritage, coastal towns, national parks and a beautiful Sanctuary of nature
where every September arrive the penguins of Humbolt and Magallanes in addition
to a rich fauna composed by different Coastal birds.
In this region of Chile you can develop activities
such as hiking, ski kayaks, birdwatching, sport fishing such as Flyfishing,
trolling, spinning, the roads are adapted with cycle paths for cycling,
trekking, hiking, horseback riding.

In addition to this, walk along the coast or malecon
of the city and feel the breeze of the lake Llanquihue hitting in the face, a
beautiful view of the Andes mountain range and its volcanoes crown Puerto Varas
