1. The oldest name of Malaysia was “Aurea Chersonesus” which was named by Greco-Roman geographer Ptolemy. Aurea Chersonesus means ‘peninsula of gold’.

2. The name Malaysia might be derived from the word Melayu, or Malay, that can come from the Sungai Melayu (Melayu River) in Sumatra.
